I am Professor and Chair of Pathology at UCSF. My lab focuses on the two major themes: 1) the role and therapeutic targeting of the autophagy pathway in cancer progression and metastasis, which a focus on breast cancer; and 2) fundamental cell biology studies on the intersection between autophagy and secretion and dissecting how these secretory autophagy pathway influence age-induced neurodegeneration and the tumor microenvironment.
